Creating an Account
Sign up
Sign up with an email address and password, or continue with a Google account. There's only one signup form — Ohmventory doesn't ask upfront whether you're an individual or a company, because both cases are handled by the same Organization model under the hood.

Choosing how you'll use it
Right after signing up, you'll be asked to choose:
- "Just for me" — activates your personal, single-member Organization. This is the right choice if you're tracking your own home, garage, or personal workshop.
- "Set up an organization for your team" — prompts for an organization name and creates a new, shared Organization with you as its owner. Choose this if you're setting up shared inventory for a team, club, or business from the start. You (or another owner/admin) can invite teammates in afterward — see Collaboration.
Either path leads to the same app; the only difference is whether you're the sole member of your Organization or planning to add others.

Starting your catalog
Next, you'll see a grid of starter category tiles — Electronics, Hardware, Tools, General, and more — pulled from Ohmventory's built-in Item Type library. A few broad, commonly-useful categories come preselected; you can add or remove any of them, or select none at all. Whatever you pick gets imported into your Organization's catalog immediately, giving you a working set of Item Types and Fields to start adding items against right away, instead of having to define every type by hand before you can create your first Item.
This step is optional — skipping it just means you'll add Item Types manually later (or import from the library at any time from Settings), starting from the single built-in "Uncategorized" type.

You're in
After that, you land in the app — at your Spaces list, which starts empty. Continue to Your First Space to set up somewhere to actually put things.
Logging back in
Existing users log in with the same email/password, or the same Google account, on the login page. A "forgot password" flow is available if needed. If you were invited to join an existing team Organization, see Collaboration for how accepting an invite or a join link works.
Signing in with Google only links to an existing password account when Ohmventory can already confirm you own that email address. If you signed up with a password first, keep using your password to sign in — Google linking for that account isn't available yet.
Signing in with a passkey
Once you're signed up, you can add a passkey from Settings → Account for faster, passwordless sign-in afterward — your device's fingerprint, face, or screen lock takes the place of typing a password. The login page offers a "Sign in with a passkey" button once you have one, and the email field on that page also accepts passkey autofill suggestions directly from supporting browsers.
Passkeys are an alternative way back into an account you already created with email/password or Google — there's no separate "sign up with a passkey" flow, since a passkey needs an existing, signed-in session to be registered against.
