Welcome to Ohmventory

Ohmventory is an inventory management system built around one idea: every physical thing you own lives somewhere, and the app should make it trivial to record and re-find that "somewhere."

It was originally scoped for electronics workshops — resistors, capacitors, tools, parts bins — but the underlying model (places, things, and typed attributes) works just as well for a garage, a household, a warehouse, or a small business's storeroom.

This wiki explains how Ohmventory is organized and how to use each of its features. It's written for people who are new to the app, not for people evaluating whether to adopt it — you won't find pricing or feature-comparison pages here, just an explanation of what exists and how it works.

The core idea, in one paragraph​

An Organization owns one or more Spaces (a home, an office, a warehouse). Each Space contains a tree of Locations — rooms, shelves, bins, drawers, nested as deep as you need. Items are the physical things you own, and every Item lives in exactly one Location. Items are classified by an Item Type (like "Resistor" or "Cable"), which determines what custom Fields the item can carry (resistance, length, color, whatever's relevant). Optionally, every Item and Location can carry a printed Label with a scannable code, so the physical object and its digital record stay connected.

That's the whole model. Everything else in Ohmventory — search, AI-assisted item entry, label printing, unit conversion, team collaboration — is built on top of those five concepts.
